“Are they goldfish of the ground?”

Onions, to me, are the perfect addition to a garden, vegetable or otherwise. Their leaves are striking, they take up little room and they are edible! I always create dedicated room for them in my vegetable gardens but also use them to create sharpness in my flower beds, and sneak them in between rows areas of vegetables when I find I have unexpected room!

My sister came to visit this weekend to help me plant in the vegetable beds and we had fun squeezing onions into leftover spaces in the garden.

Their bulb will take up whatever room you give them, so yes, to answer my sister’s question, they ARE the goldfish of the ground!
